This series offers those who play at least some fiddle/violin a chance to make a date with their instrument, enjoy familiar and new practice games, and gain skills for tunelearning, playing faster, and more.
If you are not yet a paid subscriber, feel free to click below for three options, starting at $5.
Welcome to our first “Practice With Me”! The live class took place online on Monday at fiddle-online.com but below is a video you can work with at your leisure. I suggest you set aside a time each day, even for 5 minutes, to keep your hand in (Yo Yo Ma’s parents didn’t permit him to practice more than 10 minutes a day, and that didn’t turn out so bad!). At minimum, make sure to play 2-3 times this week. Use the video and practice games to make it easy for yourself.
Knowing how is not enough; your muscles & ears need you to actually do it!
Fulfill your hopes by removing obstacles to them, and building internal discipline, the kind that feeds your desire and curiosity (as opposed to the all-too-common external discipline that polices us and pushes us to do stuff “for our own good”, stuff we never seem to measure up to…)
If you’d like full access to online support materials (class notes, extra videos, sheet music with audio by phrase), and a chance to participate in the live classes, you can always sign up any time in January and February and have it all. A direct registration form for those who are not fiddle-online members can be found here.
A rough timeline for the video below is as follows:
