Learn New Year's tunes!
Special invite to online workshops tonight and next week
Hey, just a special invite to join me live online today and next week to learn some New Year’s tunes! We’ll be looking at 5 tunes — one of them, of course, the famous Auld Lang Syne, both in the original and popular versions — but we won’t spend a lot of time on that because we’ll be trying out some New Year’s tunes that mosr people may not be familiar with. One is an Irish reel that’s not well known but should be. Another is an easy and pretty New Year’s song from Greece. Next will be a beautiful slow, meandering air that is played in Shetland (far northern Scotland) on New Year’s Day. And finally, a happy jig from Quebec.
Audio by tune and phrase, and sheet music, are available now through Jan 18 if you sign up for these online workshops. I hope to see you tonight, Thurs 11 Dec, and next Thursday, 18 Dec., at 5pm eastern US time. Unlike most fiddle-online workshops, these will go 90 minutes, giving us time to learn and play all these tunes!
Details are at this link, or reply if you have questions.
